Hare Krsna! I am Uma. This is a picture of me when I was young. Now I have a child and also adopted another. You can see that on the video posted about "Our Ever Well Wisher."
Once I was wondering around happily with my mother. I had no worries. Life was good with nice grass to graze and many friends to play with. I was little and I did not know the dangers that existed in my wonderful life.
One day, my mother told me that our master could not keep us any longer. Soon, some rough looking men came and forcibly took my mother away. She was put in a lorry. I was really scared. All I remember was my mother screaming, "Run my little one! Run!"
I just ran and ran and ran. For days I wandered aimlessly. There was no food and shelter. My feet were weak. I cried many nights for my mother. Sometimes, children would throw stones at me. I wished I could die soon. But death did not embrace me. Maggots were growing in my feet. I looked upon Govardhan and collapsed.
When I woke up, this kind looking lady was tending to my wounds. At first, I was really frightened. But slowly I started to like this lady. Her voice was soothing. I had food and water and most of all a shelter. There were many more like me in this shelter. I made friends with Vasanti, Savitri and Ramdass. There's also the big sized Ganesh. He thinks he is the king of this place. But I don't mind. He's actually quite nice.
O yes. The lady who saved my life is Sudevi Mataji. She has soothed my pain and the agony of separation from my mother. I now live in this placed called Radha Surabhi Goshala.
A Goshala is a Cow Asylum. Mataji takes care of stray cows like my friends and I, all over Vrndavan and Govardhan. It is very disheartening that people who are cold-hearted and demonic in this age of Kali-yuga find us useless. We are often captured by unscrupulous people and taken to the butcher. Yes, such incredible incidents are happening nowadays even in a holy place like Vrndavan!
The Radha Surabhi Goshala often takes sick, injured, not capable to walk any more, or starved cows in, when no one else cares. Here we receive food and are nursed back to health. Some of us are allowed, as gentle as possible, to depart naturally as the injuries are just too much to bear.
Since 1996, the Radha Surabhi Goshala is operated by a self-sacrificing Mother like Sudevi Mataji. Nothing is too much for her in order to see that we are well taken care of.
Our numbers are many in this goshala. My friends and I need to be fed and receive veterinary care and it can be costly.
I really hope people will see us as useful entities and not just discard us like garbage. We are really useful. There's so much economic sense in keeping us. Our milk can be made into butter, ghee and cheese. When we die a natural death, our hide can be used to make mrdangas. Even our dung have antiseptic qualities! Please support us by donating for our upkeep.
Please let my friends and I live like everybody else. Please support Sudevi Mataji!
